Partnership of Women and Men

Promoting Inclusive Community

The World Alliance of Reformed Churches believes that the Church of Jesus Christ belongs equally to women and men. However, this is still a dream to be realised as the church manifests injustices against women and deep divisions embedded in the persistent patriarchal ideology which has fostered a hierarchy of relationships within the community.

Through the Office of Church Renewal, Justice and Partnership, the Alliance strives to provide a platform for dialogue between women and men, drawing attention to gender injustices as it builds solidarity within and among churches. This programme has had an enriching foundation built by the Programme to Affirm, Challenge and Transform women and men in church and society (PACT) (1992-1997) and the Department of Partnership of Women and Men (1997-2004). Through these WARC has worked with member churches and partners in every region in the world in dealing with core issues affecting women.

The main purpose of the programme is to help member churches to listen anew to the biblical witness about koinonia (community), recognizing the gifts of women for ministry and leadership, and to work for the renewal and transformation of church and society as we strive to break down the barriers which still divide women and men.

The following are key areas of work:
